State Senator Patty Ritchie visited the Indian River Central School District recently to check out its new athletic complex.
The complex includes a new turf field, press box, track and stands. In addition, it also features a new scoreboard, with the ability to show live video and pictures. $20,000 in special funding secured by Senator Ritchie was used to help purchase the scoreboard.
“Sports are a big part of the educational experience for countless students across our region,” said Senator Ritchie.
“On the field, they learn key lessons, like the importance of teamwork and practice. I have been pleased to deliver funds to support athletics at Indian River and wish all Indian River teams the best of luck this year.”
In addition to securing funds for the scoreboard, Senator Ritchie also delivered funding last year to help purchase new uniforms for the district’s cheerleading squad.
