SENATOR HOYLMAN "DEEPLY TROUBLED" BY REPORTS OF DISCRIMINATORY ANTI-GAY STING OPERATIONS AT PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERMINAL
March 28, 2017

NEW YORK – Openly gay NYS Senator Brad Hoylman (D, WF-Manhattan) released the following statement today in response to news of allegations that Port Authority Police have targeted and arrested men they perceived to be gay who used Midtown Bus Terminal bathrooms.
“I’m deeply troubled by allegations that Port Authority police are using undercover sting operations to target gay men. These nefarious tactics hearken back to the dark days when vice squads would harass, bully and entrap LGBT New Yorkers. These days, surely the Port Authority has more important things to do than spend precious resources on profiling gay men. It’s offensive and likely unconstitutional. I call on the Port Authority police to end this discriminatory practice immediately and drop any and all charges in connection with these anti-gay sting operations.”
