“Ensuring our first responders have the most up to date technology available when seconds can mean life or death is invaluable. The State Interoperable Communications Grants, which the Senate fought hard to secure again in last year’s state budget, are investments in our communities that will keep people safe and reduce the costs to taxpayers as upgraded equipment is purchased. Improving public safety by incorporating new technology into our firefighter, police and emergency medical provider's operations is laudable. We need to support our first responders so that everyone has the highest quality emergency services,” said Senator Young.

Funding through the State Interoperable Communications Grant program provided Allegany County with $911,523, Cattaraugus County with $663,916, Chautauqua County with $657,306 and Livingston County with $598,108, to upgrade and improve technology related to each county’s emergency communications systems.
