“Too many in our region have felt the devastating impact of the heroin and opioid epidemic, so it is great news that New York State will be providing capital funding to expand treatment options. The Senate fought hard to secure this funding in the state budget, because we have heard from so many addicts and their families about the lack of available treatment beds. Having resources locally that people will be able to access means an opportunity for recovery and a second chance.

“This funding was part of a comprehensive package of financial resources and new laws that passed last year because of the Senate's leadership. It will help turn the tide against the epidemic, and bring hope back to those who only see darkness,” said Senator Young.

As part of $8.1 million in state-wide funding announced today, the Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse of Livingston County, Inc. (DBA Trinity) will receive $1,590,250 for 25 residential services beds; the Council on Addiction Recovery Services, Inc. in Cattaraugus County will receive $1,900,000 for 20 residential services beds; and The Woman’s Christian Association of Jamestown, N.Y. (DBA WCA Hospital) will receive $700,000 for 20 residential services beds.
