Statement from Senator Hoylman on the Reactivation of Live-Saving Speed Cameras Program
August 28, 2018

NEW YORK- Senator Brad Hoylman (D/WF-Manhattan), released the following statement in response Governor Cuomo’s executive order that will reactivate 140 speed cameras around New York City schools, bypassing the approval of the state legislature.
Senator Hoylman said: “Sanity has prevailed just in time for September. Thanks to Governor Cuomo, Mayor De Blasio, and the City Council parents like me can rest assured that reckless drivers will not jeopardize the lives of our children. It's an embarrassment that this solution had to be forged without the approval of the State Legislature. My colleagues in the Senate must reconvene and find a permanent legislative solution- we owe it to New Yorkers to do so.”
