On Board the USAT Dorchester, a transport ship that sank when it was hit by a German submarine JU -233, were four U.S. Army Chaplains who gave their lives to save other civilian and military personnel:

Chaplains Clark V. Poling, Reformed Church of America; Alexander D. Goode, Jewish; John P. Washington, Catholic and George L. Fox, Methodist.

Today, as it has these many years, The Chapel of Four Chaplains serves the memory of the brave men that perished on February 3, 1943, and carries with them their message of interfaith cooperation and selfless service to every part of the nation.

Please share and spread the word about this important event honoring the 4 Chaplains, true American heroes whose selfless sacrifice we continue to honor.
