Ranzenhofer Announces Bethany Center Bridge Open to Motorists
September 4, 2018
New York State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has announced today that the Bethany Center Road Bridge is now accessible again to residents in Genesee County.
“This important infrastructure project will improve traffic safety for both motorists and pedestrians. I am pleased to report that the new Bethany Center Road Bridge is open to traffic,” said Ranzenhofer.
New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) started replacing the structure, carrying Bethany Center Road over U.S. Route 20 in the Town of Bethany, in March as part of a $1.4 million project. The project included upgraded guardrails, pavement markings and signage. An average of 1,500 vehicles travel the overpass each day.
In December 2012, Ranzenhofer first advocated for the 86-year-old deteriorating bridge to be replaced in a letter to the NYSDOT.
