Yesterday, Sen. Rob Ortt (R,C,I,Ref-North Tonawanda) joined five local police departments to present over $60,000 in public protection funding. Joining Sen. Ortt were the Village of Youngstown PD, the Lewiston PD, the City of Lockport PD, the City of Niagara Falls PD and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. With these funds, some of the projects planned include additional Safe Neighborhood Active Patrols, the purchasing of equipment to replace outdated items, and the upgrading of technology used in police training classes.
“Bolstering local law enforcement agencies will yield positive results for both the departments and the communities they serve,” said Sen. Ortt. “The brave men and women in blue put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and I’m hopeful that these funds will help them in an extraordinarily difficult job.”
