Senator Roxanne J. Persaud Presented Binocular Microscope to the Science and Medicine Middle School in Canarsie, Brooklyn.

Brooklyn, NY) On Friday, February 9, 2018. Senator Persaud presented a brand new microscope with camera, a Vernier Go Temp, and some other items to the Science and Medicine Middle School. The microscope was a generous donation from St. Francis College.

The presentation took place at the SMMS 366 located at 965 E 107th St, Brooklyn, NY 11236 at 1 p.m., in the school’s science laboratory.

“I would like to thank St. Francis College and especially Dr.Allen Burdowski, for the generous donation for the Science Lab at School of Science and Medicine. We must continue to invest heavily in education, knowing that the more we enrich the lives of our students, the greater the impact they will have in the community and the world in general.” Senator Persaud said.

Senator Persaud encouraged the students to continue to work hard and to engage in constructive activities whether in school or at play as she continues to advocate for more resources for the schools in the 19th District.

Apart from the presentation of the items, Dr. Burdowski gave an attention-grabbing lecture on the topic, “Lead in Drinking Water & Water Testing- The Flint Michigan Crisis,” in an effort to bring awareness to the important uses of the items and the relevance of scientific research. Dr. Burdowski, the Director, Pre-Health Professions Program, Dean of Sciences, invited the class to St. Francis College for further enrichment classes.
