Papa's Got A BRand New Bag: Senator Murphy Bags Groceries, Recognizes Shoprite's 20 Years Of Aiding Local Fod Banks
Peekskill, NY - Customers at the ShopRite in Peekskill did a double take on September 21 when they saw who was bagging their groceries. No, Senator Terrence Murphy wasn't moonlighting, he was actually there to celebrate the store's 20th anniversary of donating goods to help out local food banks. He noticed how busy the employees were and decided to lend a hand.
Senator Murphy said, "I was glad I could be of some assistance, although one cashier told me I shouldn't give up my day job. Every job is worthwhile. The employees here are no different from anyone else who works on Wall Street or drives a bus. They're doing what they need to do to provide for their families. They take pride in what they do. Twenty years of providing food to less fortunate families is a heartfelt, commendable way for ShopRite to give back to the community it serves."
