Skoufis Co-Chairs Historic Hearing on Sexual Harassment in State Government
"Yesterday, I co-chaired the first hearing on sexual harassment in state government in 27 years, providing a long-overdue opportunity for victims and experts to share essential testimony; the hearing lasted 11 hours. We heard from survivors about their experiences and had the opportunity to question the Joint Commission on Public Ethics and the Department of Labor on their practices."
"The survivors’ words were powerful, heartbreaking, and instructive. The system has failed so many, including countless victims we do not individually know about. This state needs to protect employees, especially women, who we know are disproportionately targeted for this type of abuse. I, along with Senator Biaggi and Senator Salazar who were my fellow co-chairs, are resolved to take yesterday’s testimony and put it to action."
