New York State Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joseph Griffo, R-I-C-Rome, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-Marcy, and Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. released the following statement following the announcement that FEMA will be in the Mohawk Valley to conduct an assessment of damage caused by recent flooding and storms.

“We are pleased that Congressman Anthony Brindisi has announced that FEMA will be conducting a preliminary damage assessment in Oneida and Herkimer counties,” Deputy Minority Leader Griffo, Assemblywoman Buttenschon and County Executive Picente said. “It is our hope and belief that FEMA will provide financial assistance and create a home buyout program for those affected by recent flooding and storms in the region. If there is an additional need following FEMA’s assessment, we are requesting that Gov. Andrew Cuomo stand ready to augment and assist the residents, businesses and others who have suffered significant losses as a result of severe weather. During the Governor's announcement in Utica, we provided him with a letter, in which we highlighted our concerns and requested additional support."
