Senate to Hold Joint Public Hearing on Protecting Consumer Data and Privacy on Online Platforms

(Garden City, NY) -- Senator Kevin Thomas (D-Levittown), Chair of the Consumer Protection Committee, will lead a joint public hearing with the Committee on Internet & Technology in Manhattan on Friday, November 22 to conduct discussion on online privacy and the role of the New York State Legislature in its oversight.

The hearing will focus on gathering input from experts and stakeholders, with the purpose of investigating the concerns and challenges involved in safeguarding New Yorkers' personal information online. Among those set to testify are two prominent figures in the Cambridge Analytica data scandal, Brittany Kaiser and David Carroll, who will talk to lawmakers about their role in exposing the company's illicit harvesting of personal data from Facebook and other sources.
