ALBANY – Senator Pam Helming is highlighting National Future Farmers of America Week, which takes place this year from Sunday, February 17 to Saturday, February 23. Recently, she welcomed several high school-level Future Farmers of America members from around New York State to the State Capitol in Albany. These high schoolers included Meghan Weaver and Sydney Grosso, from Tully Junior-Senior High School, and Catherine Kopp, from Southern Cayuga Junior-Senior High School. Senator Helming met in her Albany Office with the young women, who shared their thoughts about the importance of agriculture programs in schools and the benefits of organizations such as FFA.

“Agriculture is the No. 1 industry throughout central and western New York State, and as State Senator, I will always do everything I can to ensure that farmers and farm families have the resources and services they need to run successful and vibrant operations. One way that we can assist our farmers is by supporting the students who wish to have careers in agriculture once they finish school. That is why I am proud to recognize National Future Farmers of America Week and pleased to advocate for FFA organizations and similar programs in our schools. It was terrific to meet these three young women and learn more about their future aspirations. I wish them all much success as they determine their path for college and career,” Senator Helming said.
