Statement From Senator Patty Ritchie

“I was pleased to attend today’s announcement regarding the agreement reached between the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and Alcoa that locks in the future of the aluminum smelting facility for another seven years in Massena. This agreement is a victory for the local workforce, as well as the regional economy and I applaud the efforts of both NYPA and Alcoa for continuing this important partnership.”

“Alcoa has a tremendous history in the North County and it is a place where generations of local, hardworking people have built their careers. This agreement is an important step in reaffirming the state’s commitment to the company and the North Country economy. It is my hope that this agreement will serve as a springboard to provide additional opportunities for the region’s workforce going forward.”
