SENATOR SUE SERINO TO HOST ‘COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER’ TO BENEFIT LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS

HYDE PARK, NY – Senator Sue Serino today announced the launch of a “Community Baby Shower,” to benefit new and expectant mothers, as well as individuals and families served by Family Services, Inc., the Grace Smith House and the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center.

“Being a parent to young children can be challenging in the best of times, but the COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it a whole new set of stressors for families across the Hudson Valley,” said Senator Sue Serino. “Each of these organizations serves women here in our community who are working to reach their full potential, and we want to do all that we can to support those efforts. Parents everywhere know it takes a village, and we hope this unique initiative helps local parents breathe a little easier during this tough time.”

"The needs of parents have only increased during these unprecedented times. Parents need the support of our community more than ever,” said Leah Feldman, Vice President for Community Programs for Family Services. “Thank you to Senator Serino for organizing the Community Baby Shower to benefit families. It takes a village to raise a child, and we are thankful for the compassion of our community to come together and help those in need."

“We’re so grateful to Sue Serino and the community for supporting domestic violence victims and their families, especially during a difficult time like this,” said Grace Smith House Executive Director Branka Bryan. “Many of the parents who come to us for help leaving abusive relationships have young children, and providing them with diapers, wipes and other things they need means one less worry for them.”

Ann Ellsworth, Executive Director of the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center said, “The Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center is so grateful for Senator Serino and her attention to the needs of our most vulnerable. This Baby Shower Drive supports the children and the babies whose parents are struggling to keep them healthy and safe during this unprecedented time in our history! Thank you, Senator, for shining the light on these needs and doing what you can to ease the burden on our community.”
