Senator Hinchey Urges PSC to Hold Hudson Valley Water Company Accountable in Response to Failure to Provide Clean Water to Hurley Constituents

Saugerties, NY...Senator Michelle Hinchey (SD-46) today addressed the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS) at a virtual public statement hearing on the management and operations of Hudson Valley Water Company following a DPS investigation into the utility that was spurred by more than 25 customer complaints regarding water and service quality. At the hearing, Hinchey, who represents parts of Ulster County, including the Town of Hurley, called for improvements on behalf of residents living in the West Hurley service area and cited long-standing negligence on the part of the utility, including frequent and unannounced service interruptions, poor customer service and billing practices, and contaminants in the water supply that have caused public health concern.
