Reminder: Ritchie to host "Drive-Thru Drug Take Back" Event in Mexico Thursday
November 16, 2021
State Senator Patty Ritchie is reminding people she will host a “Drive-Thru Drug Take Back” event on Thursday, November 18th in Mexico in an effort to help people clean out their medicine cabinets, protect the environment and improve community safety.
The event, which is being made possible with assistance from the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mexico VFW (5930 Scenic Avenue/NYS Route 3).
“Whether they end up in the wrong hands or are improperly disposed of, expired or unwanted prescription medications can pose a danger to health, safety and the environment,” said Senator Patty Ritchie. “I encourage those who need to clean out their medicine cabinet to take advantage of this opportunity to easily—and responsibly—do so.”
At the event, any unused or expired medications will be accepted, with the exception of needles, and syringes. Those who cannot attend can click here for information on other locations where prescription drugs can safely be disposed of.
