Senator Samra Brouk Honors Dr. Randeep Kashyap with Senate Commendation Award During National Donate Life Month

ROCHESTER, NY - Yesterday, New York State Senator Samra Brouk honored Dr. Randeep Kashyap, a nationally recognized transplant surgeon, with the Senate Commendation Award. Dr. Kashyap has performed over 2,000 transplant surgeries, saving the lives of thousands of our community members. The Commendation Award was bestowed upon Dr. Kashyap at a ceremony at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

“The New York State Senate Commendation Award is bestowed by the Senate upon exceptional individuals in the community, and because of the lifesaving care that he has provided to thousands of people in the 55th District, I am honored to recognize Dr. Kashyap with this award,” said Senator Samra Brouk. “Dr. Kashyap is not only known as being a highly skilled and talented transplant surgeon and researcher, but he is also known throughout the health system as being an incredibly kind and compassionate provider who cares deeply about the organ donors and recipients he helps.”

Julia Yaw, transplant patient of Dr. Kashyap, thanked the surgeon on behalf of herself and her family. During the ceremony, she remarked that because of the life-saving transplant surgery that Dr. Kashyap had performed, she is alive and well today -- and she was recently able to go skydiving for the first time.

After receiving the Commendation Award, Dr. Kashyap thanked everyone and in spite of all he has accomplished he credited living and deceased donors and their families as the real heroes. “I don’t believe in miracles,” Dr. Kashyap stated. “I depend on them.”
