Senator Daphne Jordan honors Megan Quillinan, Executive Director for Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, as her 2022 NYS Senate Woman of Distinction for the 43rd District

Halfmoon, NY – New York State Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I-Halfmoon) tonight honored Megan Quillinan, Executive Director for the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center (MACSC), as her 2022 NYS Senate Woman of Distinction for the 43rd Senate District during a special ceremony held at the Fairways of Halfmoon. Senator Jordan’s Woman of Distinction public ceremony recognized Megan Quillinan’s countless contributions to our community, her years of selfless service, and her dedicated, highly effective public leadership that’s made a positive and lasting difference for countless area families.

Senator Jordan noted that Megan Quillinan is a respected community leader with an extensive track record of helping those in need, and a determined advocate for community-based development through mutually respectful relationships built with employees, volunteers, and partners. Now in her 21st year of leading the MACSC, Megan Quillinan is a hands-on leader, overseeing everything from grant writing, administration, fundraising, community relations, personnel management, and the development of responsive community-focused programs. 

Under Megan Quillinan’s advocacy as Executive Director, the MACSC and its 50-year record of building innovative programs and offering services that support and empower the community are widely recognized as a true center for the entire community, powered by a diverse, dedicated, flexible, and knowledgeable staff, talented volunteers, and generous benefactors.

Hallmarks of Megan Quillinan’s leadership include tripling the agency budget to over $1 million with diversified funding streams including State and local grants, fundraising, collaborative community partnerships, and an increase in revenue-yielding programs. Tireless, tenacious, and talented, Megan Quillinan’s true passion lies in service to her community.

Megan Quillinan’s academic background and professional credentials are impeccable: Megan earned her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Skidmore College, and is credentialed in Family Development from Cornell University, and Family Development Leadership from the University of Connecticut. She is a Bridges Out of Poverty Certified Trainer, a graduate of Leadership Saratoga, and completed City Year, one of the initial AmeriCorps programs.

Megan Quillinan’s accomplished advocacy, heartfelt compassion, and highly effective leadership have continually been recognized and lauded with prestigious awards, including the Capital Region Chamber’s Nonprofit of the Year, Mechanicville Citizen of the Year, Chamber Angels Honoree, National Community Advocacy Award, and the Community Inspiration Award.

Created in 1998 to honor women who exemplify personal excellence, whose professional achievements, acts of courage, selflessness, integrity, and perseverance serve as an example to everyone, the New York State Senate Women of Distinction program recognizes outstanding women and their personal and professional contributions that have greatly enriched the quality of life in their communities and beyond.

“This year marked the 24th annual Woman of Distinction program and exhibit, hosted by the New York State Senate in honor of Women’s History Month, celebrating and honoring New York women – the barrier breakers, difference makers, risk takers, and trailblazers that have selflessly served, led, and enriched our state and nation. Megan Quillinan fits this description and meets these leadership criteria,” Senator Jordan said.

“For all these reasons – community service, non-profit leadership, programmatic excellence, setting a positive example through caring, compassion, and direction – naming Megan Quillinan as my 2022 New York State Senate ‘Woman of Distinction’ for the 43rd Senate District was an easy choice and the right choice.
