Senator Webb Celebrates Grand Opening of Ithaca Office
Webb’s Ithaca Office is the first New York State Senate Office to be located in Tompkins County in More than a Decade.

ITHACA, NY - This afternoon, State Senator Lea Webb, local elected officials, and members of the community celebrated the grand opening of her new Ithaca office with a ribbon cutting and celebration. Located in the historic Crescent Building in the heart of downtown Ithaca, Webb’s new office will be open Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5PM.

Webb’s new office is the first New York State Senate office located in Tompkins County in more than a decade.

Said Senator Lea Webb: “It has been far too long since the residents of Tompkins County have had local access to their NYS Senate representative. I am thrilled to open our doors here in Ithaca and look forward to welcoming the community to our office. My team is ready to assist our constituents with a wide range of issues impacting their families. My office is focused on being accessible to the community, with offices in Binghamton and Ithaca, and community office hours located around the district.”

Since January, Senator Webb’s District Office located in the State Office Building in Binghamton has been open to the public. Additionally, Senator Webb and her team have been accessible to their constituents at community office hours held bi-weekly throughout the 52nd district, which includes Tompkins County, Cortland County, and parts of Broome County.

Senator Webb was joined by colleagues in local and state government. Remarks were delivered by Assemblymember Anna Kelles, Mayor Laura Lewis of the City of Ithaca, Shawna Black, Chair of the Tompkins County Legislature, Robert Cantelmo, Alderperson in the City of Ithaca, and Jennifer Tavares, President of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce.

Said Assemblymember Anna Kelles, “Having a physical presence in a community as a public servant is a game changer. It allows a representative to see firsthand day after day the life and experience of the community. Senator Webb understands this and thought to get the approval to add an office here in Tompkins County, and we are very grateful. As big as her district is, she still manages to be at events after events here in our community. She shows up, she listens, and she acts on our behalf to fight for the things that we need. I am very excited to continue our work together for Ithaca and Tompkins County.”

Said City of Ithaca Mayor Laura Lewis, “I am delighted and gratified that Senator Webb is opening an Ithaca Office. She is demonstrating her commitment to our 52nd district and, in particular, to Tompkins County with her office and staff presence in our community. Sen. Webb’s Legislative accomplishments to date are impressive and I am confident in her ongoing dedication to meeting the needs of folks throughout our district.”

Said City of Ithaca Alderperson Robert Cantelmo, “I am so grateful to be standing here with Senator Lea Webb at her office's grand opening. I believe Senator Webb may be the first NYS senator to operate an Ithaca-based office in my lifetime and I know my community joins me in welcoming her and her dedicated staff to our downtown. In her first term, Senator Webb has achieved numerous hard-fought successes: growing economic opportunity in Tompkins County and across New York, combating climate change, and investing in our local cultural institutions. The City of Ithaca appreciates Senator Webb as a partner who works with us to improve the lives of those working, learning, and playing in our community."

Senator Webb serves as the Chair of the Senate’s Committee on Women’s Issues and is a member of the Committees on Agriculture, Health, Higher Education, Procurement & Contracts, Mental Health, and Cities 2. In her first year in office, Senator Webb introduced 54 bills, 32 of which passed through the Senate and 23 of which passed through both houses and await the Governor’s signature.
