June 3, 2024
ALBANY, NY – Last week, the New York State Senate passed S. 8572, sponsored by Senator Kristen Gonzalez (SD 59-D/WFP) and Assembly Member Alex Bores. The bill intends to educate state agencies about the benefits of cloud computing technology, in accordance with the creation of policies from the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS)
Senator Kristen Gonzalez said, “By equipping our state agencies with the knowledge and tools to cloud computing, we’re paving the way for faster, more efficient, and more secure services that New Yorkers deserve. This bill is about ensuring that every decision made benefits the people we serve. Let’s empower our agencies to lead the charge towards a brighter, more responsive future.”
Cloud computing can provide a faster, more efficient, and more secure environment than on-premises technology needs. This bill will ensure that state agencies in New York have guidance to evaluate and make informed decisions regarding the necessity and best use of cloud services for their specific operations.
