Senator Lea Webb’s Office Delivers Over 2,000 Valentines to Local Nursing Homes as Part of Her Valentine’s Cards for Seniors Initiative
More than 30 schools and community organizations participated in the Senator’s inaugural Valentine’s Cards for Seniors Drive

(Binghamton, NY) This Valentine’s Day, Senator Lea Webb (SD52) and her Constituents Services Team delivered more than 2,000 hand-made Valentines to nursing homes and senior centers in Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins counties. The Valentines were made by students in schools across Senate District 52 as part of the Senator’s first annual Valentine’s Cards for Seniors Drive. More than 30 local schools and community organizations participated in the drive, ensuring that a homemade Valentine reached residents of 22 nursing homes throughout the district.

“A simple act of kindness, like a handmade card, can make a significant difference, especially for our seniors, who often feel isolated around holidays,” said Senator Lea Webb. “I am deeply moved by the outpouring of love and creativity by our community to show our seniors that they are appreciated. I have enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful, handmade Valentines appear in my offices over the past few weeks, and  I want to thank all of the students, teachers, and community members who participated in this labor of love. I look forward to making this an annual tradition in Senate District 52."

Jennifer King, Reading Teacher at George F. Johnson Elementary School in Endicott, “We were thrilled to have Senator Lea Webb come visit our school and see the students make Valentine's Day cards for her "Valentine's Cards for Seniors" Drive. I thought it would be a great way to spread some love from GFJ and the students felt the senior citizens would be happy and excited to receive their handmade Valentine's Day cards!
