Senator Patrick Gallivan, a former NYS Trooper and Sheriff of Erie County, attended the annual Remembrance Ceremony at the NYS Police Officers Memorial in Albany this week.
The names of 68 law enforcement officers who gave their lives in service to their fellow New Yorkers have been added to the black granite walls, including dozens who died of illnesses related to their work at Ground Zero.
"We thank these brave men & women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep New York safe," Senator Gallivan said.
The memorial now include the names of 1,840 police officers from 152 agencies across the state, and six federal agencies.
