Senator Patrick M. Gallivan, (R-C, Elma) issued the following statement:

"The death of inmate Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility is reprehensible and never should have happened. The video is disturbing
and the correctional officers involved should be prosecuted and held accountable for their actions.

These individuals do not represent the vast majority of Correction Officers who professionally carry out their duties everyday under
extremely difficult conditions. We must ensure these men and women have the resources necessary to keep our correctional facilities safe
for inmates, officers, staff and visitors."
