Albany, N.Y., January 25—At today’s legislative hearing on Governor Hochul's 2024-2025 proposed Executive Budget, state Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) questioned New York's top homeland security official on New York’s ever-growing migrant crisis.
Senator O’Mara, who serves as the Ranking Member on the Senate Finance Committee, asked for updates on what it’s costing taxpayers to provide services to migrants, security at migrant shelters, the overall impact on quality of life for affected communities, and New York’s long-term planning for addressing the crisis.
