“Too many of our neighbors in rural communities face real barriers when it comes to getting the care they need—from transportation challenges to provider shortages,” said Senator Ryan. “These healthcare fairs are about breaking down those barriers by bringing local providers and services directly to the people who need them most. Access to quality healthcare shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code, and I’m proud to work with our partners across Oswego County to make care more accessible for every resident."
Over 25 vendors are participating, including:
- Oswego Health
- Oswego County Opportunities Inc.
- United Way of Greater Oswego County
- Oswego County Health Department
- NY Connects of Oswego County
- Oswego County Office for the Aging
- National Grid
- The Oswego YMCA
- REACH CNY, Inc.
- Fidelis Care
- The Oswego County Prevention Coalition
- Kinney Drugs
- SAGE Upstate
- Food Bank of CNY
- …and more
Senior Vice President of Communications and Chief Brand Officer of Oswego Health Jamie Leszczynski said, “At Oswego Health, caring for our community means ensuring that every resident has access to quality healthcare—close to home. We’re proud to join Senator Ryan and so many incredible local organizations for the Rural Healthcare Fairs. These events highlight the many resources available right here in our community, and we’re excited to connect directly with our neighbors to support their health and wellness.”
Director of Rural Health Network of Oswego County, and Coordinator of Community Health for Oswego County Opportunities Joelle Hutson said, “More than 40% of Oswego County residents live in rural communities, where transportation and provider shortages can make access to care a challenge. As we approach National Rural Health Day on November 20th, these fairs highlight how local collaboration can close those gaps and strengthen the health of our region.”
Oswego County Office for the Aging, Aging Services Administrator Sara Sunday said, “The Office for the Aging is looking forward to meeting with our older residents during Senator Ryan’s Rural Healthcare Fairs. While those age 60+ are the fastest growing population across the Nation, funding to support services for older people has not kept pace. Bringing service providers together makes the task of exploring locally available services easier for those who are aging and face the additional barrier of transportation.”
While registration is not required to attend, attendees can register through this link. If you are a part of an organization that wishes to participate as a vendor, please email berg@nysenate.gov.
