State Senate Awards $150,000 to Village of Solvay Fire Department
October 13, 2026
State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50) today awarded $150,000 to the Village of Solvay Fire Department. This funding will be used to aid in the purchasing of a new Polaris Ranger XD 1500 UTV and a new Chevrolet Pickup Truck with full emergency outfitting including hand tools, portable lighting, radios, generators, extinguishing agents, pulleys and ropes.
“When an emergency happens, our firefighters need to be ready to respond to whatever situation comes their way,” said Senator Ryan. “These new vehicles and equipment will give the Solvay Fire Department more flexibility to reach people in difficult conditions, transport essential tools, and respond to emergencies throughout the community. I’m proud to provide this funding and support volunteer firefighters throughout Senate District 50.”
The Solvay Fire Department provides service to the west side of Syracuse, including the Onondaga Lake Shoreline, NYS Fairgrounds, and the Empower FCU Amphitheater.
"On behalf of the men and women of the Solvay Fire Department, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Senator Christopher J. Ryan for his continued support of our department and our community,” said President of the Solvay Fire Department Robert Adams. “These vehicles and equipment will provide our firefighters with additional resources to respond to emergencies in challenging conditions and throughout the areas we serve. Senator Ryan’s continued commitment to supporting our volunteer firefighters is appreciated, and this funding will make a meaningful difference in our ability to protect the community. On behalf of all the members of the Solvay Fire Department, thank you, Senator Ryan, for your continued support and for investing in the safety of our community.”
