(Binghamton, NY) – Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD-52) announced that she has secured $250,000 in state funding for the Family Enrichment Network, Inc in Binghamton. The funding was awarded through the New York Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology Program (CREST) and will aid in a new sprinkler system.
Family Enrichment Network, Inc. (FEN) is a multi-purpose non-profit agency. The agency has provided critical services to the community for over 46 years. FEN offers services to an estimated 1,500 individuals annually through 20 programs provided for four departments, including: Head Start/Early Head Start, Care Resource Center and Community Services, Housing, and Special Education Services.
“Family Enrichment Network has been a cornerstone of support for families and children in Broome County for decades,” said Senator Lea Webb. “Securing $250,000 in funding will help ensure that their facility remains safe and accessible, allowing them to continue delivering the high-quality programs and services that so many in our community depend on. The work FEN does every day strengthens our community by providing children with a strong educational foundation, empowering parents with critical resources, and offering families the support they need to thrive.”
“With Senator Webb’s support, our organization secured $250,000 in DASNY funding to rehabilitate our Washington Street site — a place that holds great significance for the families we serve,” said Director of Program Development April Ramsay. “This investment allowed us to bring the building up to current safety and fire code standards, including installing a new sprinkler system, and complete the renovations needed to meet NYS OCFS licensing requirements. But this project was about far more than bricks and code compliance. This building is a lifeline, a welcoming hub where children and families find hope, learning, and support every single day. Each week, roughly 75 children, adults, and families walk through our doors to access Early Head Start and Head Start programs, Special Education services, preschool evaluations, speech, occupational and physical therapy, Nutrition Outreach and Education, and Re-Entry support. We are grateful for the Senator's support.”
