Senator Lea Webb Announces $4.4 Million in NYS Funding to Support Next Generation 911 Infrastructure Awards Across Senate District 52

This investment in public safety infrastructure will improve response times and improve caller location accuracy.

(BINGHAMTON, NY)- Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD52) announced that county-level primary Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and primary backup centers in Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins counties will receive grant funding to help prepare for the implementation of Next Generation 911 (NG911).  

“In rural communities like ours, it is imperative that our first responders have modern and robust emergency response and communication systems,” said Senator Lea Webb. “These funds will ensure that local dispatchers have the technology to keep our communities safe. 

Awarded counties in the 52nd Senate District:

Broome County: $1,639,396

Cortland County: $1,266,796

Tompkins County: $1,515,197

The NG911 Grant Program supports upgrades in call handling equipment to include interfaces and software applications needed for agencies to meet the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) i3 standards. All eligible counties received a base amount of $1 million in funding, with remaining funds allocated based on population, to enhance crucial emergency response services statewide.
