(Binghamton, NY) – Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD-52) delivered $10,000 to Broome County in support of the LUMA Arts Initiative, Inc. This investment will help the projection arts festival display artwork for thousands of attendees downtown Binghamton.

LUMA was founded 11 years ago by a film editor, a street photographer, and an event planner. With an expectation of 3,000 attendees, 30,000 came to support the vision.

Artists from various backgrounds unite together to share a common vision for festival goers near and far to experience each night of the event. LUMA displays unique and creative artwork every year that illuminates the buildings in Broome County.

Said Joshua Bernard, Co-Founder of LUMA, “We're absolutely thrilled that Senator Webb was able to secure this generous grant in a year when funding for the arts has been particularly challenging. The Senator has been a supporter of LUMA from Day one, initially as a Binghamton City Councilwoman, and her support has only grown over the years. Events like LUMA couldn't exist without leadership like Senator Webb's.”

Said Senator Lea Webb, “I’m proud to have secured a $10,000 grant for the LUMA Projection Arts Festival, a celebration that transforms our community into a living gallery and brings art to life in the most innovative ways. Every year, LUMA showcases the power of creativity and the importance of investing in the arts, not just as entertainment, but as a vital part of our culture and economy.”
