Down to Earth Empire Award

(Endicott, NY)- New York State Senator Lea Webb presented Down to Earth Whole Foods with the New York State Senate Empire Award, recognizing nearly fifty years of leadership in health, sustainability, and community care. The New York State Senate Empire Award recognizes businesses and organizations that demonstrate excellence, create local impact, and contribute to the vitality of their communities.

Founded in 1976, Down to Earth Whole Foods is Broome County’s oldest natural products retailer and one of the first of its kind in the Southern Tier. Locally owned and operated, the business has long been dedicated to providing high-quality groceries, vitamins, herbs, and personal care products while promoting wellness and environmental responsibility.

In addition to its Fresh Foods Deli & Grill, operated by Chef Ricki, the store offers a refill program that encourages customers to bring their own glass or non-plastic containers for spices, grains, and kombucha, helping reduce single-use waste and build a culture of sustainability.

“Down to Earth has nourished this community for nearly fifty years, not just through the healthy food they provide, but through their deep commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being,” said Senator Webb. “Their leadership has helped shape a healthier, more sustainable future for Broome County, and I’m proud to honor that legacy with the Empire Award.”
