At the American Center for Optics Manufacturing's Western NY Optics Workforce and Legislative Partners Breakfast, Senator Helming praised the role Western New York is playing in strengthening America’s optics, defense, and advanced manufacturing sectors—while reaffirming her commitment to bringing and protecting good-paying jobs in the region.

“The future is optics—and it’s happening right here in Western New York,” said Senator Helming. “Companies like Sydor, Optimax, OptiPro, Syntec Optics and many others in our district are proof that when we invest in people and technology, we build world-class businesses and create lasting opportunity.”

The event, hosted by Sydor Technologies and organized by AmeriCOM, showcased how innovation and collaboration are powering growth throughout the NY SMART I-Corridor.

A key focus of the event was workforce development. Senator Helming highlighted her Pathways to Prosperity initiative, launched in partnership with Jay Roscup of Wayne County Community School, which connects K–12 students with local careers in optics and advanced manufacturing.

“Programs like Pathways to Prosperity are making it clear to young people that there’s a future for them right here at home,” Senator Helming added.  “These are family-sustaining careers in industries that are growing, and they’re happening in our backyard.”
