Senator Helming

Senator Helming recently celebrated an extraordinary milestone with a cherished member of the Victor community. On the occasion of his 100th birthday, Victor resident Harold Elmer Stryker was presented with a New York State Senate Citation in recognition of his lifetime of service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to his country and community.

A proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Harold is one of five brothers—all born and raised in Wayne County—who bravely served our nation during the war. Their collective service stands as a powerful testament to the patriotism and strength of the Greatest Generation.

Senator Helming said, “Harold is a shining example of what makes our nation great. He represents the values and quiet strength that define the Greatest Generation. It was my privilege to honor his 100th birthday and present him with a New York State Senate Citation on behalf of a grateful state. We thank Harold not only for his service in World War II, but for the legacy of patriotism and kindness he continues to share with his community every day.”

The New York State Senate Citation is a formal commendation awarded to individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to their communities and the state. It is one of the highest honors a New York State Senator can bestow.
