Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C, Elma) announced $350,000 in funding to four municipalities within the 60th New York State Senate District to support clean water initiatives and infrastructure improvements. The Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grants will help communities modernize water and sewer systems, protect public health, and enhance resilience to extreme weather. 

“Ensuring access to clean water and maintaining safe and modern sewer infrastructure is critical,” Senator Gallivan said. “These grants will make it possible for communities to design and plan upgrades, making local wastewater systems more resilient and keeping communities safe.”

Grants of $100,000 each have been awarded to the Town of West Seneca, Village of Depew, and Village of Lancaster to evaluate sanitary sewer infiltration and inflow in each community.  A grant of $50,000 has been awarded to the Town of Collins to conduct an evaluation of its sewer district.

The grants, administered by the NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation, were announced to coincide with National Water Quality Month, commemorated every August to highlight the importance of clean water for healthy communities and economic development.
