Senator Patrick M. Gallivan, (R-C, Elma) says New York State is making a significant investment to pave and repair thousands of miles of state roadways during the 2026 construction season. A total of 24 projects totaling more than $49 million are planned in Western New York, including several in the 60th Senate District.
Leveraging $800 million included in the most recent state budget to augment the final two years of its five-year, $34.3 billion Capital Plan, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will invest more than $600 million in over 180 paving projects across the state to be completed next year. These projects, which total almost 2,150 lane miles, are in addition to the paving initiatives already scheduled as part of NYSDOT’s core programs and taken together, represent the most ambitious annual road resurfacing agenda ever put forward by NYSDOT.
“Maintaining our roads and bridges is critical to the safety of New York residents and visitors to our state,” said Senator Gallivan, a member of the Senate’s Transportation Committee. “Harsh winter weather takes a toll on our infrastructure, making this type of investment necessary. These projects will support local economies and improve the quality of life for those in the community.”
Paving projects in the 60th Senate District include:
- $2.1 million to overlay Rt 219 from the Duerr Rd overpass in Orchard Park to I-90.
- $1.3 million to resurface Rt 5 from Sturgeon Point Rd to Revere Dr in Town of Evans.
- $879,000 to resurface Rt 240 from Davis Rd to Route 277 in Orchard Park.
- $574,000 to resurface Rt 39 from Dupont Rd to Mortons Corner Rd in Concord.
The $34.3 billion five-year Capital Plan is the largest in State Department of Transportation history and includes over 250 pavement renewal projects across the state in 2026 that will resurface more than 4,000 lane miles.
