Commission on Rural Resources Releases 2025-2026 NYS Budget Summary

Document Summarizes NYS Budget's Rural Spending and Policy Decisions

Albany, NY--On Thursday, June 12, the Legislative Commission of Rural Resources released their third annual summary of the New York State Enacted Budget. The summary highlights spending and policy decisions that are relevant for rural New York in the State's 2025-2026 fiscal year and includes a wide range of topics from agriculture to transportation.

"One of the core functions of our Commission is to inform rural New Yorkers of the work that the Legislature is doing and how it impacts them. As we've built out our work here these past few years, one of the most effective ways to fulfill that function has been through our budget summary. We are proud of the way it has evolved over time, and we will continue to be a conduit for the conversation between rural residents around New York and legislative offices in Albany," said Executive Director Corey Mosher.

The document is now publicly available and free to download here: https://www.nysenate.gov/sites/default/files/admin/structure/media/manage/filefile/a/2025-06/lcrr-enacted-budget-summary-fy-2026.pdf

The bipartisan Legislative Commission on Rural Resources is composed of members from both the Senate and the Assembly. Albany's only independent body focused on the needs of rural New York, its goal is to promote and protect the state’s rural resources by making recommendations to the Legislature on policies and programs. The Commission is led by their chairs, Senator Rachel May and Assemblymember Anna Kelles.
