September 19, 2025
In response to the proposed revisions to the HALT Act put forward today by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, New York State Senator Rob Rolison, ranking member of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Correction Committee, released the following statement:
“The proposed HALT Act modifications put forward by this committee represent an opportunity for comprehensive and common-sense initiatives that can create a safer environment for those who work in correctional facilities and those who are incarcerated there,” said Rolison. “I appreciate the working group representing stakeholders throughout our correctional system for coming together to share their perspectives and ideas. These recommended policy changes can and should be carefully reviewed and discussed by myself and my colleagues in the State Legislature. Our goal must be to strengthen safety and accountability in both state and local correctional facilities.”
