Senate One-House Resolution Includes Sen. Gounardes’ Proposal to Keep Kids Safe Online
March 10, 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MARCH 10, 2026
New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes issued the following statement in response to the inclusion in the State Senate’s One-House budget resolution of his Stop Online Predators Act (S.4609A) to protect kids from exploitation on Roblox and other online platforms:
"With Congress and the White House completely failing to lead, New Yorkers are looking to New York to hold Big Tech accountable, and that urgency is reflected in the Senate's One-House resolution. I'm proud my proposal to protect kids from predators on Roblox and other online platforms is included. Too many sites have become hotbeds of exploitation and abuse, and it’s up to us to give families the support they need.
“Parents should not have to worry that their kids are being targeted by predators while they play video games with their friends online. With my Stop Online Predators Act, gaming and social companies will have to implement real privacy protections and meaningful safeguards so their platforms are no longer a place for rampant grooming of children.”
