Senator Ryan and Cicero Police Department Unveil New Gym
May 8, 2026
State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (NY-50) and the Cicero Police Department today unveiled a new officer wellness space located inside the police headquarters. Senator Ryan last year awarded the Cicero Police $15,000 in Legislative Initiative Funding, which covered the cost of this project.
“As former Chair of the Public Safety Committee for the Onondaga County Legislature, I know how hard our local police officers train and what is required of them,” said Senator Ryan. “When our law enforcement is able to have beneficial training facilities on site and at their disposal, it better prepares them for intense emergency situations. As a State Senator, I’m proud to have supported this project and remain committed to ensuring Central New York’s law enforcement have the resources they need to succeed.”
“Initiatives that improve our officer health and wellness program are always top-of mind,” said Cicero Police Chief Steve Rotunno. “An on-site gym facility is something our officers have been wanting for a long time, and I thank Senator Ryan and the Cicero Town Board for all of the support they have given to our police department.”
This funding covered operating, material, and programming costs for the Town of Cicero Police Department, including, but not limited to, the Officer Wellness Program, annual subscriptions, community awareness and safety programs, equipment purchases, among other expenses.
