Senator Ryan Awards $107,000 to the Village of Minoa
April 30, 2026
State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50) today awarded $107,000 to the Village of Minoa which will be used to install Storz adapters on the Village’s fire hydrants and repair the entrance to the municipal building.
The Storz fire hydrant adapters allow firefighters to connect large supply hoses to hydrants in a quarter-turn, which is significantly faster than traditional threading, and connect to any other Storz fitting of the same size, eliminating the need to distinguish between ends of the hose.
“This investment is about making sure our municipalities have the tools and resources they need to serve and protect their residents,” said Senator Ryan. “By upgrading Minoa’s hydrants with Storz adapters, we’re helping firefighters connect faster and respond more efficiently in emergencies. At the same time, improving features of Minoa’s municipal building ensures that critical village services remain safe and accessible for residents. I’m proud to support projects that strengthen public safety and invest in the long-term success of our communities.”
The funding provided by Senator Ryan will cover the entire cost of replacing the municipal building door and the purchase of 250 Storz adapters.
“I’m grateful to Senator Ryan for standing with Minoa,” said Mayor of Minoa, William Brazill. “This funding strengthens our fire department and helps us maintain the municipal building our residents rely on every day. It’s another example of our community shining brightly as we continue moving Minoa forward.”
“This investment directly enhances our ability to protect life and property,” said Minoa’s Fire Chief Don Grevelding. “By speeding up water supply operations, we are placing our firefighters in a stronger operational position and improving overall safety for the citizens we serve.”
“This is a much needed upgrade that will have a direct impact on how quickly we can operate on the fireground,” said Minoa’s Deputy Fire Chief, Trevor Van Auken. “Storz adapters allow our firefighters to connect large diameter supply lines faster, improving water flow in critical moments and enhancing the level of protection we provide to our residents. We’re grateful to Senator Christopher Ryan for his support in making this project possible and for continuing to invest in the safety of our firefighters and the residents of the Minoa Fire District.”
