NYS Senator Dean Murray: Stop Putting Criminals Over Victims

Legislation Prioritizes Former Inmates’ Voices on Parole Board, Ignores Victims
(Albany, NY) - Senator Dean Murray, member of the Senate Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction, today blasted Senate Democrats for their continued focus on criminals over victims and law-abiding New Yorkers.
The Committee advanced legislation (S.3746) to require the Governor to appoint at least one formerly incarcerated person to the New York State Parole Board.
“Just once, it would be refreshing to see my colleagues across the aisle introduce legislation to ensure crime victims’ voices are represented on the State Parole Board. I voted against this legislation because I will always prioritize victims over criminals, and I will continue to advocate for the rights of victims, their loved ones, and all law-abiding New Yorkers while Senate Democrats continue to prioritize criminals,” said Senator Dean Murray.
