Over $12 Million Awarded For Affordable Housing Projects In The 3rd Senate District

(Patchogue, NY) – Awards were granted for more than $12 million through New York State’s Long Island Investment Fund (LIIF) to support the development of new affordable housing projects within the 3rd Senate District. This was announced by Governor Hochul and is part of $26 million dollars in awards that support the state’s broader effort to increase the housing supply and expand access to affordable housing opportunities across the region.

The Alegria South development in Bellport has been awarded $4.5 million in grant funding from the Long Island Investment Fund, along with a $13.2 million tax break to support construction and long-term affordability. Additionally, the Carriage House project in Patchogue has been awarded $8 million in grants from the same fund.

Both projects are located within the 3rd Senate District, and the fact that two of the five most recent awards are being directed here demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing the very real housing crisis facing our communities.

When completed, these two developments will bring nearly 360 new housing units to the area, many of which will be available to families, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and others most in need of affordable and workforce housing options.

“This is a huge win for the 3rd Senate District. Expanding our housing is critical to keeping families here, supporting our workforce, and ensuring that the next generation can afford to live and thrive in our communities. These investments will make a meaningful difference for hundreds of residents and help move us closer to addressing the housing challenges we face,” stated NYS Senator Dean Murray, 3rd Senate District.

The funding represents another important step toward increasing housing availability and affordability in the 3rd Senate District and across Long Island.
