Griffo: Non-profit arts and cultural organizations receive support from New York State Council on the Arts

New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo announced today that several non-profit arts and cultural organizations in the 53rd Senate District will be receiving support from the New York State Council on the Arts’ Capital Projects Fund for critical building improvements.
 
The organizations receiving funding in Sen. Griffo’s district, which includes all of Oneida and Madison counties and parts of Herkimer and Chenango counties, are:
 
  • Earlville Opera House, Inc. (18 E. Main St., Earlville): $89,872 for theater air conditioning and re-roofing.
     
  • Kirkland Art Center (9 1/2 E Park Row, Clinton): $53,823 for key equipment, including a water softening system, electric kilns and raku kilns.
     
  • Rome Community Theater (8911 Turin Road, Rome): $95,000 for roof repair and replacement.
     
  • Sculpture Space, Inc. (12 Gates St., Utica): $86,094 for an air quality and safety upgrade.
     
  • Stone Quarry Hill Art Park, Inc. (3883 Stone Quarry Road, Cazenovia): $158,000 for a new driveway.
     
  • Uptown Theater For Creative Arts, Inc. (2014 Genesee St., Utica): $66,500 for a drapery system.
 
“I am pleased that these organizations will be receiving funding through the New York State Council on the Arts’ Capital Projects Fund,” Sen. Griffo said. “These institutions promote the arts, provide a variety of enriching educational and cultural programs, and help to spur economic activity in the region. This important financial support from Council on the Arts will help each of them make important improvements that will enhance their facilities and help them to flourish for years to come.”
