Gender-affirming care is essential healthcare for trans and gender expansive New Yorkers. For the past year, this Federal Administration has continuously attacked young people’s right to this life-saving care, and most recently has targeted their health records and privacy.
This morning a federal judge temporarily blocked the federal government from obtaining the medical records of all minors who received gender-affirming care in NYC hospitals, including NYU Langone and Mount Sinai. This court ruling continues New York’s work to protect the trans community from the Trump Administration, and reaffirms the values of our state’s Shield Law on the federal level.
My office is actively tracking Coe v. Blanche, and in touch with the targeted hospitals. Reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
