(Southern Tier, NY)- Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD52) announced that Cortland and Tompkins counties will receive funding from the NYS Statewide Investment in More Swimming (NY SWIMS) Initiative.

Said Senator Lea Webb, “Swimming facilities are important gathering places that support public health, recreation, and community connection. This $10.6 million investment through the NY SWIMS Initiative will help modernize pools and waterfronts, improve safety, and expand accessibility so more residents can enjoy these spaces year-round. I’m proud to support funding that strengthens our local infrastructure and ensures families across Senate District 52 have access to high-quality aquatic facilities for generations to come.”

Senate District 52 received the following funding through the NY SWIMS Initiative:

  • $3,837,500 for the City of Cortland to complete a full renovation of the Yaman Park swimming area, including construction of a new ADA-accessible bathhouse, improved beach access, shoreline stabilization, and new shade structures and pavilions to enhance year-round use.
  • $281,760 for the Cortland YMCA to install a new pump system, replace the chemical control system and sand filter, complete mechanical room plumbing upgrades, and renovate locker rooms to enhance community access and safety.

  • $251,600 for The Village of Lisle to complete ADA-compliant and safety upgrades to its bathhouse and swimming facility, including pump station renovations, expanded pool decking, new fencing, and improved storage facilities.
