(Southern Tier, NY)- Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD52) announced that the applications are open to the SFY2025-2026 Volunteer Fire Infrastructure & Response Equipment (V-FIRE) Grant Program. The V-FIRE Grant Program is a state-funded $25,000,000 competitive grant program that supports the enhancement of the security and safety of the citizens of New York State by providing critical funding to strengthen volunteer fire departments and districts statewide.
Said Senator Webb, “Our volunteer firefighters are the backbone of public safety in communities across the Southern Tier and throughout New York State. They put their lives on the line to protect our families, homes, and businesses, and they deserve access to modern facilities and reliable equipment to do their jobs safely and effectively. The V-FIRE Grant Program is a vital investment in our volunteer fire departments, ensuring they have the necessary infrastructure, training facilities, and response equipment to meet today’s challenges. I strongly encourage eligible departments and districts to apply and take advantage of this important opportunity.”
Eligible applicants can apply for up to $1,000,000 if proposing projects for construction, renovation, or purchase costs for critical facilities (buildings, training facilities, etc.) that support fire operations, or up to $500,000 if proposing projects for allowable fire service equipment to upgrade and improve their response capabilities.
