BINGHAMTON, NY – Today, Senator Webb delivered $150,000 to the Addiction Center of Broome County (ACBC) to support the construction of their new building. This presentation coincides with International Overdose Awareness Day, recognized annually on August 31. 

“ACBC is honored and so grateful to receive this funding from Senator Webb, which will be used to relocate our main office from 30 West State Street to 15 Charles Street,” said Carmela Pirich, Executive Director of the Addiction Center of Broome County. “The relocation will assist with adding new offices for therapeutic activities and a specialized treatment suite for children and adolescents who have been impacted by substance use disorder. Being able to expand our services will help fill a critical need in the Southern Tier.”

Said Senator Lea Webb, “The Addiction Center of Broome County has been providing essential services in our area for more than 50 years. They do work in several crucial areas, including substance use disorder treatment for individuals and families, mental health treatment and care management. I appreciate that ACBC has a holistic approach to healthcare and provides treatment for individuals that goes beyond their substance use disorder. They do amazing work and I’m honored to be providing them with this funding for their new building.”

The Addiction Center of Broome County was founded in 1975 in Binghamton and has since grown to include locations in Endicott and Norwich. They provide comprehensive support to individuals in the area, including but not limited to those struggling with substance use disorder.

International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is recognized annually on August 31. IOAD encourages communities to remember those who have been lost to drug use or overdose and calls on us to support those who may still be struggling with substance use. 

Senator Webb secured the funding for improvements to their garden through the New York State Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology (CREST) Program. The CREST Program, administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), provides reimbursement-based grants of capital costs for projects undertaken by eligible entities.
