BINGHAMTON, NY – Today, Senator Webb delivered $50,000 to Lincoln Court Apartments Housing Development Fund Company to purchase a generator. Lincoln Court Apartments Development is managed by Metro Interfaith Housing Management Corp., a nonprofit in Broome County working to provide affordable housing throughout the area.

“Metro Interfaith deeply appreciates this funding for Lincoln Court Apartments,” said Conant Smith, President and CEO of Metro Interfaith Housing Management Corporation. “We are committed to providing safe, appropriate, and affordable housing for those in our community who need assistance, especially for our independent elders and people who are disabled. Receiving this $50,000 from Senator Webb means we can make essential upgrades to Lincoln Court Apartments and continue providing safe and affordable housing.”

Said Senator Lea Webb, “Housing is a critical need across our state, but especially in our area. The $50,000 I delivered will help the Lincoln Court Apartments Housing Development Fund Company purchase a generator, making their development safer, more accessible, and more reliable. We must continue to invest and prioritize organizations like Metro Interfaith that are working hard every day to address the housing crisis.”

Lincoln Court Apartments opened in 1983, offering housing for seniors and people with disabilities. It is a 45-unit HUD-subsidized one-bedroom apartment building located at 21 New Street on the Southside of Binghamton, NY, across the river from downtown Binghamton. The generator will provide power to their community room, their commercial kitchen, to the elevator in the building, and to their offices so they can continue operations in the event of a power outage.

Senator Webb secured the funding for their generator through the New York State Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology (CREST) Program. The CREST Program, administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), provides reimbursement-based grants of capital costs for projects undertaken by eligible entities.
