State Senator Pam Helming attended the Lyons Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Banquet on May 15th in Clyde, where she presented a New York State Senate Proclamation to Steve Paliotti of Lyons, recognizing his 50 years of service to the department and the community.

Paliotti served as Chief of the Lyons Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years, spent 30 years as a Lieutenant with the City of Rochester Fire Department, and remains an active volunteer.

Senator Helming said, “Steve Paliotti is exactly the kind of person who makes our communities stronger and safer. Fifty years of volunteer service, on top of a distinguished career as a professional firefighter, is proof of what it means to serve. Steve didn’t just answer calls. He led, he mentored, and he gave decade after decade without ever stopping to ask what was in it for him. That is the spirit that holds volunteer fire departments together, and it is the spirit that makes Wayne County such a special place to live. It was an honor to recognize him and to thank the men and women of the Lyons Volunteer Fire Department for everything they do for this community.”
